Coverage & Payment Options

Coverage & Payment Options

One of the main reasons people delay or avoid therapy is cost. At Gathercole Chiropractic & Massage, we want you to know there are several programs that can partially or fully cover your treatment expenses. If you’re eligible for any of these programs, your chiropractor or therapist can help you understand your coverage and assist with any paperwork.

Medical Services Plan of BC (MSP)

If you are enrolled in the MSP Premium Assistance Program, MSP contributes $23 per visit for a combined annual limit of 10 visits per calendar year. This applies to the following services:

  • Chiropractic
  • Massage Therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Naturopathy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Non-surgical Podiatry

Please note: Fees related to x-ray examinations, insurance reports, and requested letters not otherwise covered are the patient’s responsibility. No referral is required.

Extended Health Benefit Plans

Many extended health plans—such as those offered through Pacific Blue Cross—cover chiropractic, massage therapy, and naturopathic treatments.

  • Coverage details and limits are determined by your employer or benefits provider.
  • Our office now offers Direct Billing for most insurance plans.
  • Contact your employer’s HR department or your benefits provider for details on your coverage.

No referral is required.

WorkSafeBC

  • Coverage: Chiropractic office visit fees, reports, and x-rays are paid by WorkSafeBC for work-related injuries.
  • Duration: Workers who qualify for compensation benefits are typically covered for up to eight weeks of chiropractic treatment at no cost.
  • Note: Treatment may not coincide with additional therapies (such as physiotherapy) without prior approval from WorkSafeBC.
  • Action: Contact your chiropractor immediately following a work-related injury to begin recovery.

No referral is required.

ICBC

  • Coverage: Chiropractic office visits, reports, and x-rays for injuries from motor vehicle accidents are covered by ICBC.
  • No out-of-pocket cost: Simply provide your claim number and your chiropractor will confirm approval.
  • Length of coverage: Treatment is covered for the entire recovery period.
  • Additional services: Your chiropractor can provide a medical-legal report and attend court if requested by you or ICBC’s lawyer.

No referral is required.
